It has been a wonderful month so far. Had a great New Year, most of the memorable parts at least, celebrated a milestone birthday in style, and was able to spend most of my work week in pajamas with no makeup, not to mention that I have been able to avoid driving Big Red in this freezing cold with no heat, one good thing about not having all wheel drive and being a terrible driver is that no one wants to get in the car with you when they think you have a death trap and you are the Grim Reaper. So, onto the point, this week, the normally mild and temperate Southern winters took a turn for the Arctic. That's right, it snowed in Atlanta. But not just snowed, it has been a crazy massive all out snow storm that has caused insane amounts of ice on the road and 3-4 inches to gather on top of the Big Red Phoenix for days now. Okay, so it actually only snowed for a day or two, but it still caused a ton of ice and the city to shut down for almost a week, so much so that they shut down the highway and the mall...do you know how rare that is?! That means working from home for just about everyone, walking (and almost dying) to the Kroger down the street, hot chocolate, slumber parties, sledding (which also caused a near death experience and a couple great bruises....it's not as easy as it looks). So what is there to do on these snowy nights when not even the movie theaters are open past 5? Aside from a great game of Trivial Pursuit, I'm still trying to figure that one out. So far I have resorted myself to, of course, finding some new music, but mostly listening to some old comforting classics....and playing lots of Words With Friends. I will go ahead and warn you that most of these songs are somewhat slow and depressing, or at least slow enough to make you think, there is just something about the snow and being cold that makes me want to put on some sappy songs and drink some cocoa, even though most of my days have been nothing like that and instead have consisted of wine and lots and lots of sweets. Anyway, here are some of my top songs to listen to in Snowlanta 2011.
